Dark Circles Under Eyes
You may be twenty years old with lovely skin, but if you party too hearty, you can wake up with dark circles under your eyes. You may have a genetic predisposition to dark circles, and these may be especially severe. The undereye area might simply become darker and puffier as you age.
What causes these unattractive shadows and bags? Poor circulation is often the culprit. The area is very rich in blood vessels, and when they show through skin, as is often the case with veins on the back of the hands or in the wrists, they appear blue or purple. The skin under the eyes is exceptionally thin, usually about 20 micrometers. That's only about half the thickness of the epidermis elsewhere.
When blood pools in the area or the fragile blood vessels break, it looks as though you have bruises under your eyes. Lymphatic fluid pooling in the area, also a result of poor circulation, causes puffiness and bags. Stimulating circulation can alleviate both problems.
Okusil, produced by Janson Beckett Cosmeceuticals, combines several active ingredients to stimulate circulation, shrink puffiness and alleviate dark circles. Okusil Intensive Eye Serum also contains ingredients to tighten loose skin around the eyes and reduce the appearance of fine lines.
To help prevent dark circles, be sure to get enough rest, preferably with your head elevated on a firm pillow. Over-indulging in alcohol, smoking cigarettes and rubbing your eyes are also actions that can worsen the problem. If you use a concealer, choose a yellowish tone to cancel out the blue shadows. Begin at the inner corner and pat it on gently with your ring finger to avoid stretching the delicate skin. The best solution, however, is to protect your eyes with specialized eye care products from Janson Beckett.
